LCC Projects Wins Rs 151.57 Crore Sauni Yojana Water Supply Order

Reviewed by 4 min read

LCC Projects has won a Rs 151.57 crore engineering, procurement and construction order under Gujarat’s Sauni Yojana to carry water from the Machhu-I Dam to the Triveni Thanga Reservoir and on to villages in Wankaner and Chotila talukas. For machine owners in Saurashtra, it is a two-year trench-and-pipe job: excavators, breakers and compaction gear working a long, moving front rather than one fixed site.

The quick facts

  • Winner: LCC Projects Ltd, listed on the exchanges in September 2026.
  • Client: Office of the Executive Engineer, Sauni Yojana Division, Rajkot, Government of Gujarat, through an Acceptance of Tender (AoT).
  • Value: Rs 151.57 crore excluding GST, with 10 years of operation and maintenance included.
  • Scope and term: water supply from Machhu-I Dam to Triveni Thanga Reservoir and villages of Wankaner and Chotila talukas; construction in 24 months.

What did LCC Projects win?

The company told the stock exchanges late on Friday, 16 October, that it had received the AoT from the Sauni Yojana Division in Rajkot. Zee Business reported the filing on Saturday morning, adding that the construction part runs 24 months, and a separate reproduction of the filing text carries the same scope and value. The disclosure gives no pipeline length, pipe diameter, pumping-station count or split between construction and the 10-year O&M.

The award is LCC’s third Gujarat order in under a month. Its own announcements page lists an order from Reliance Industries on 26 September and a letter of commitment from the same client on 9 October.

What it means for buyers

A dam-to-reservoir transfer with village offtakes is mostly buried pipe. That makes the trench the job: excavators in the 20-tonne class on the open rural stretches, backhoe loaders at the village ends where roads narrow, a crane or the excavator itself for pipe handling, and plate and soil compactors for bedding and backfill. Much of Saurashtra sits on hard basalt close to the surface, so expect a rock breaker on the carrier for part of the route.

Read the headline number carefully. On water-transfer EPC, pipes, pumps and valves usually take the biggest slice, and this figure also carries a decade of O&M. The money that pays for machine hours is a minority of Rs 151.57 crore, and without a disclosed length there is no honest rate per kilometre to rank it against other pipeline jobs. Our pipeline and water supply page sets out the usual fleet for this class of work.

The calendar matters more than the value. Saurashtra loses roughly July to September to the monsoon, so a 24-month build gives about two dry seasons of trenching. Survey and design approvals typically come first, which puts the heaviest machine demand in the first half of 2027 rather than this winter.

Our take: a pipeline front keeps moving, and that suits hire over purchase. Owners in Rajkot, Morbi and Surendranagar with 20-tonne excavators, breakers and rollers are the likely beneficiaries if LCC sub-lets trench packages. We would not buy a machine against this job alone.

What to watch

  • A published pipeline length or diameter, which would size the trench fleet properly.
  • Whether LCC sub-lets trenching and laying in packages, and when mobilisation starts.
  • LCC’s Rs 653.34 crore Rajasthan irrigation bid, still at L1 on our last check, turning into a letter of award.

FAQ

Who awarded the LCC Projects Sauni Yojana order?

The Office of the Executive Engineer, Sauni Yojana Division, Rajkot, under the Government of Gujarat, issued the Acceptance of Tender for Rs 151.57 crore excluding GST.

Which machines will the Machhu-I to Triveni Thanga job need?

Mainly trenching and pipe-laying kit: 20-tonne excavators, backhoe loaders, rock breakers where basalt is shallow, cranes for pipe handling, compactors for backfill and tippers. LCC has not disclosed its own fleet plan.

Can I still bid for this work?

No. The main contract is awarded. Any further work would come as sub-contracts or hire from LCC, while open tenders appear on our Opportunity Desk.
