Construction Equipment Calculators
Work out the real numbers before you buy or hire a machine in India: the on-road price after GST, insurance and registration; the EMI for the down payment you can manage; what the machine drinks in diesel per hour; the hours you must bill each month to break even; whether buying beats hiring at your hours; how two machines compare on running cost; and what a used machine is worth today. Every figure starts from an India 2026 default you can change to your own.
Calculator
Where the numbers come from.
Our price data means we counted it from the ex-factory
prices listed on DesiMachines.
Market range means it is a rate the market was quoting
in 2025–26.
Estimate — check means it is our own working number
and we have not confirmed it with a dealer, so treat it as a starting point.
Standard factor means a standard engineering value, not a price.
Please read. These calculators give an indicative estimate, not a quote. Prices,
hire rates, diesel prices, salaries, taxes and interest rates change by state, by season and by
buyer. Loan terms and eligibility depend on your bank or NBFC. Confirm the final numbers with our
team, your dealer and your lender before you commit money.
Prices last counted from our catalogue in August 2026. Last updated: 7 September 2026.
Common questions
What is the difference between ex-showroom and on-road price for a machine?
Ex-showroom (ex-factory) is the machine’s price before tax and paperwork. On-road adds GST, first-year insurance, registration and road tax where the machine is RTO-registered, handling and delivery, and any attachments fitted. Wheeled machines such as backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, graders, compactors and pick-and-carry cranes are registered; crawler excavators are not, so their real cost is ex-showroom plus GST, trailer transport to site and insurance.
How many litres of diesel does a JCB 3DX use per hour?
About 5 to 7 litres an hour in normal digging and loading work. Idling, hard ground, an oversized bucket and long road travel push it up. At ₹92 a litre and 200 hours a month, each litre an hour is worth about ₹2.2 lakh a year, which is why the diesel calculator shows what one litre saved is worth.
How many hours a month must a backhoe loader work to make money?
At a wet hire rate of ₹1,100 to ₹1,200 an hour, most owners break even around 160 to 200 billed hours a month once the EMI, operator, service and diesel are counted. Monsoon months at 100 to 120 hours usually run at a loss, which the break-even calculator shows for your own numbers.
Should I buy a machine or hire one?
Hire when you need the machine for fewer hours a month than the crossover point, and buy when you need more. For a backhoe loader class machine at ₹1,150 an hour wet hire, owning starts to win somewhere above 150 hours a month, depending on your EMI and diesel. The buy-or-hire calculator also shows the hire rate below which hiring wins at the hours you already know.
How does the resale calculator value a used machine?
It starts from what you paid, applies the share of value the model keeps each year, and adjusts for hours run against normal use. The answer is a band, not a single figure, because condition, papers and location move a real deal by 10 percent or more either way.
Are these calculators a quote?
No. They are indicative estimates from figures you enter. Prices, hire rates, diesel prices, salaries, taxes and interest rates change by state, season and buyer. Confirm the final numbers with our team, your dealer and your lender before committing money.
