₹98.11 crore is the estimate for a new hill canal in Rudraprayag district, and the Laster canal tender for the left canal in Jakholi block closes at 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026.
A big canal job for the hills
The Uttarakhand Irrigation Department has invited bids for construction of the Laster (Left) Canal in Jakholi block. The notice is 09/SE/2026-27 from the Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Works Circle, Rudraprayag.
It is an item rate contract with 480 days to finish. The portal entry gives no length or discharge, so the BOQ and drawings are the place to judge how much is cutting, how much is lined channel and how many cross-drainage structures there are.
What you need to bid
EMD is ₹1,96,22,121, which is 2 per cent of the estimate, with no exemption. The tender fee is ₹5,900. A pre-bid meeting was held at the Superintending Engineer’s office on 29 September. Bids open at 3:30 PM on 13 October 2026.
A canal on a hillside is built along a narrow bench cut into the slope. Short-tail excavators with rock breakers do the cutting, and backhoe loaders shift material where a tipper cannot turn. Concrete for lining and aqueducts is mixed close to the point of use, so small concrete mixers matter more than a central plant. A light crane helps with pipe and shuttering. Owners of compact machines in Rudraprayag and Tehri will find steady hire.
