Amritsar-Jamnagar Missing Link Tender, Gujarat (₹713.11 Cr)

NHAI has put the last unbuilt stretch of the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor out to tender in Gujarat, 24.2 km of NH-151A between Maliya and Pipaliya at ₹713.11 crore, with bids closing on 25 September 2026.

A short length, a big number

Most of the Amritsar-Jamnagar corridor is already running. What is left is the Maliya to Pipaliya section of NH-151A in Gujarat, and NHAI has tendered it on EPC mode at an estimated ₹713.11 crore for 24.2 km. Work out the rate per kilometre and you get roughly ₹29 crore, which is well above ordinary four-lane greenfield cost in this belt. That number tells you what the Amritsar-Jamnagar missing link really involves: structures. A gap left for last on a corridor of this size is usually left because of what sits in it, whether that is drainage crossings, the Little Rann edge conditions near Maliya, or the interchange work needed to tie a new carriageway into a road that is already carrying traffic.

The paperwork is clean. Product category is Civil Works, category is Works, the contract form is item rate, the estimate is disclosed rather than banded, and the EMD of ₹7,13,00,000 works out to almost exactly 1 per cent of the estimate. Who should be pricing this

At ₹713 crore over 24 km this is not a job for a regional contractor stepping up. NHAI’s bid history on this authority and work type is thin, which usually points to a shortlist of national EPC names with corridor experience already working in Saurashtra and Kutch. If you own machines rather than bid for contracts, the opportunity here is subcontract and hire: earthwork packages, structure crews, and hired fleet for the haul.

Two things are worth confirming from the NIT before you commit a bid team. First, how much of the 24.2 km sits on new alignment against widening in place, because the two price very differently. Second, what the structures schedule looks like, since the per-kilometre rate suggests the bridges and the interchange carry a large share of the value.

Machines this stretch will pull in

Corridor work of this length runs on a full earthmoving fleet. Excavators and dozers open the formation, motor graders trim it, and soil compactors close it out layer by layer. On a 24 km run the tipper count is what decides your programme, especially if borrow is coming from any distance in Rajkot district.

Structures bring their own set. Cranes for girder placement, batching plant capacity within haul range, transit mixers and concrete pumps for substructure and deck work, and piling rigs where the crossings need them. Once the formation is up, pavers and tandem rollers take over for the bituminous layers. Kutch and Saurashtra sites also tend to need water tankers on the compaction cycle through the dry months, which is easy to underprice.
