Cuttack district has two lump-sum bridge contracts open until 5:00 PM on 9 October 2026: the ₹128.48 crore Kathajodi bridge tender and a ₹56.36 crore bridge over the Luna.
The two crossings
The bigger job is a high-level bridge over the river Kathajodi to connect Mukameswar with Purighat (Devi Gada). The second is a bridge over the Luna at the 5th km of the Ranipada to Tentalpur road, connecting Sahadevpur village. Both are issued by the Chief Engineer, Buildings and Bridges, under Odisha’s Rural Works organisation, as requests for proposal on a lump-sum basis.
Each bridge gets 900 days. They are separate tenders, so a firm can bid for either one or both.
Why the lump-sum form matters
On a lump-sum contract the design risk sits with you. Foundation depth, scour and span arrangement are yours to get right, and a wrong guess on the river bed is not paid as an extra. Price the investigation properly before you price the concrete.
EMD is 1 per cent on each: ₹1,28,48,000 for Kathajodi and ₹56,36,000 for Luna, with exemption allowed for eligible bidders and a ₹10,000 fee per tender. Bids open on 13 October. The same office also has four smaller bridge tenders out, and the state’s highway wing has bridge packages on the national highways.
Heavy lifting on a wide river
The Kathajodi is a broad, sandy branch of the Mahanadi, so expect deep foundations and a long working season in the bed. Piling rigs or well-sinking gear come first, with crawler cranes for cages, girders and launching. Excavators build the working platforms and cofferdams, a batching plant with transit mixers feeds the pours, and compactors finish the approaches.
