NH-62 Four-Laning Tender, Nagaur-Bikaner, Rajasthan (Rs1,100.69 Cr)

MoRTH has called BOT (Toll) bids worth Rs1,100.69 crore to widen the Nagaur-Bikaner stretch of NH-62 in Rajasthan to four lanes, and bids close on 24 September 2026.

This is one of the larger road packages to reach the market from western Rajasthan this year. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, through its Bharatmala Pariyojana and Special Projects Cell, wants the existing two-lane-with-paved-shoulders carriageway between design km 161/000 and km 270/245 upgraded to four lanes with paved shoulders. That is roughly 109 km of running highway across the Nagaur and Bikaner districts.

What the package covers

The work is structured as a PPP concession on BOT (Toll) mode, so the winning bidder builds the widened carriageway and then recovers the investment through toll collection over the concession term. Practically, the construction phase means widening an existing live highway: earthwork for the new carriageway, granular and bituminous layers, cross-drainage structures, junction improvements and safety furniture, all while keeping traffic moving on the old lanes.

Desert-belt highway work in this part of Rajasthan brings its own conditions. Sand-blown formation, long haul distances between quarries and the alignment, and summer working windows all feed into how a bidder prices the job.

Who this suits

BOT (Toll) at this size is EPC-major territory. The concessionaire will need balance-sheet depth, a tolling plan and prior highway concession experience. That said, the real opportunity for smaller players sits one layer down: once the concession is awarded, the winner subcontracts earthwork packages, bituminous paving stretches, structures and material haulage. If you own a fleet and work in the Jodhpur-Nagaur-Bikaner belt, this is a project worth tracking through to award.

Machines that will be on site

Expect a long, linear spread rather than a concentrated site. Excavators and dozers for formation and cutting, motor graders for subgrade and granular layers, soil compactors and tandem rollers behind them, tippers running material in volume, and a paving train with a sensor paver and pneumatic tyre roller for the bituminous courses. A batching plant plus transit mixers and a crane or two will cover the culverts and minor bridges along the alignment.
