One of Hyderabad’s long-serving water sources is being rebuilt with a new 232 MLD treatment plant and a 1700 mm steel main for ₹551.07 crore, and the Manjeera water supply tender from HMWSSB closes on 5 October 2026.
Phase I and Phase II in one contract
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) describes the work as refurbishment and upgradation of the Manjeera Water Supply Scheme, Phase I and Phase II. The contractor builds a new 232 MLD water treatment plant with an intake well and pump house, and lays a new 1700 mm diameter MS pipeline from the Kalabgoor treatment plant to the Patancheru pump house. The state is funding it through budgetary support, with two years allowed for implementation.
The tender is from the Transmission Circle, under Transmission Division II at Patancheru. The reference is EP.No.70/CGM(E)/TC/T1/TD-II/2026-27 dated 21 August 2026. It is a lump-sum contract in a single cover.
One per cent deposit, no fee
EMD is ₹5,51,07,239, which is 1 per cent of the estimate. No tender fee is listed, and bid validity is 90 days. One corrigendum has been issued, for the pre-bid meeting. The notice we read does not state a closing time or a bid opening date, so confirm both on the portal.
A 1700 mm MS main is laid in a wide, deep trench and each pipe length weighs several tonnes. Excavators in the 20 to 30 tonne class dig the trench, with breakers for the granite that is common west of Hyderabad, and cranes or side-booms string and lower the pipe. The treatment plant and intake well need a batching plant, transit mixers and a boom pump. Wheel loaders and tippers handle bedding and backfill, and compactors finish the trench. Crane and excavator owners in Sangareddy and Patancheru are closest to the route.
