Two sections in one contract
The tender joins two pieces of work on the Kanpur-Kabrai route through Bundelkhand. Section 1 is the new four/six-lane access-controlled greenfield highway, starting at km 0.000 on the Kanpur Ring Road and running to km 117.700 near Kabrai in Mahoba district. Section 2 is overlay, strengthening and road safety improvement on the existing Kanpur-Kabrai stretch of NH-34 from km 7.430 to km 130.100, the road that will carry traffic while the new one is built.
It is let on the DBFOT pattern, so the concessionaire designs, builds, finances, operates and transfers. NHAI’s Kanpur project unit handles it, and the file reference points to the Hamirpur spur. The tender dates from 24 December 2025 and has been extended since.
Who should look at it
The main bidder will be a large highway developer. The size of the earthwork is what matters to everyone else: 117 km of greenfield formation across the Yamuna and Betwa river country means borrow areas, big fill quantities and a lot of cross-drainage structures. Contractors and fleet owners in Kanpur, Hamirpur, Mahoba and Banda, especially those who worked on the Bundelkhand Expressway, are well placed for sublet packages.

Plant on a job this size
Earthwork is the long pole: excavators at borrow pits, several hundred tipper trips a day, and dozers, motor graders and vibratory rollers on the embankment. The overlay section needs a hot mix plant, sensor pavers and tandem and pneumatic rollers. River bridges and interchanges add piling rigs, cranes and batching plants with transit mixers.
