Kerala PWD is building two bridges in the Mundakkai and Punchirimattom area of Wayanad, the hill settlements hit by the July 2024 landslide, at an estimated ₹25.50 crore, and the Wayanad bridge tender closes at 11:00 AM on 24 October 2026.
The two crossings
The tender names the GLPS 8th Number bridge and the Punchirimattom Vanarani bridge. It comes from the Superintending Engineer, PWD Bridges, North Circle, Kozhikode, under the Chief Engineer (Bridges), with reference PWD/BR/TR/3194/2025_5_1_1/1.
It is an item rate contract for general civil work with 540 days to finish.
A small deposit for the size
EMD is a flat ₹5,00,000 and the portal shows exemption as allowed for eligible bidders. The fee is ₹16,540. A pre-bid meeting is set for 11:30 AM on 7 October at the Superintending Engineer’s office in Kozhikode. Bids open at 11:00 AM on 26 October 2026.
The site is a steep river valley with heavy monsoon flow, so foundations and river training matter as much as the deck. Excavators with breakers open the foundations and clear boulders, a crane handles girders and reinforcement cages, and transit mixers bring concrete up from Meppadi or Kalpetta. A backhoe loader builds the approaches. Work in the river bed is limited to the dry months from December to May, so the programme has to fit two working seasons.
