NHPC Pumped Storage Powerhouse Civil Works Tender, Madhya Pradesh (₹1,723.20 Cr)

NHPC has floated the ₹1,723.20 crore Package-I civil works for its 640 MW ISP OSP pumped storage project in Madhya Pradesh, with bids closing on 25 August 2026.

The scope in plain terms

This package covers design, engineering, procurement and construction of the power house and associated works for a 640 MW pumped storage project. NHPC has tagged it Package-I Civil Works, so the heavy underground and surface civil scope sits here rather than the electro-mechanical supply. Pumped storage plants move water between an upper and a lower reservoir, which means the civil package carries the bulk of the excavation, concrete and structural volume on the job.

The contract is an EPC agreement on a turnkey basis, procured through an open tender with two covers and a bid validity of 180 days. NHPC’s Corporate Office at Faridabad is running the contract through its Civil Contracts wing, and bids open there on 31 August 2026 rather than at site.

A job of this size in Madhya Pradesh will pull in subcontract packages and a long equipment hire book for several years. Expect large excavators for mass and benched excavation, drilling jumbos and rigs for underground faces and rock support, and wheel loaders plus a heavy tipper fleet for muck haulage. Concrete volume drives the rest: batching capacity, transit mixers and concrete mixers, cranes for placing steel and liners, and compactors for approach roads and fill. Access roads alone keep a fleet busy before the main works start.
