A submersible bridge with its approach road is going across the Tamus river in Rewa district at ₹40.92 crore, and the Tamus river bridge tender closes at 5:30 PM on 16 November 2026.
One crossing on a district road
The work is construction of a submersible bridge including approach road across the Tamus river on the Bhadara Chand Kurail road at km 1/4-6-8 in Rewa district. The Chief Engineer, Bridge Zone, Bhopal issued it under reference 15/2026-27 as a percentage rate contract with 840 days. The estimate is ₹40,92,38,000.
A submersible bridge is designed to be overtopped when the river runs high, which keeps the deck low and the cost down. The trade off is that the structure and its approaches have to be built to take the flood passing over them, so scour protection and the approach slabs are not places to save money.
Two and a half seasons for one bridge
Eight hundred and forty days on a single crossing looks generous until you count the working months. On the Tamus you get roughly eight usable months a year, so the period is really two and a half dry seasons. Get the foundations out of the river in the first one.
EMD is ₹20,46,190, about 0.5 per cent, with no exemption, and the fee is ₹50,000. The notice was published on 15 October 2026 and bids open at 5:45 PM on 17 November 2026. The Bridge Zone has two other river bridges out at the same time, so compare before you choose.
A small site that needs the right plant
River bed foundations mean dewatering and either wells or piles, with excavators doing the excavation and the coffer dam. The approach road either side is ordinary earthwork for tippers and a compactor, finished by a motor grader.
Deck and pier concrete has to go in without a break, so plan transit mixers with a standby, and a crane for shuttering and girders. Rewa has quarries and an active contractor base, which keeps aggregate leads short on a job this size.
A bridge built with a low deck that is designed to be overtopped when the river runs high. It costs less than a high level bridge but needs careful scour protection and robust approaches.
