A short but expensive stretch of the Grand Trunk Road near Gorhar is going to six lanes at ₹110.61 crore, and the Atkadih Gorhar tender closes at 11:00 AM on 26 November 2026.
Five kilometres at twenty crore a kilometre
NHAI has invited bids for six laning of the Atkadih to Gorhar section of NH-19, the old NH-2, from km 320.800 to km 326.160 in Jharkhand on EPC mode. That is 5.36 km for ₹1,10,61,00,000, which works out to roughly ₹20 crore a kilometre. The reference is NHAI/11015/5/PD/ DHN/1663/E 238953, issued through Head Office Technical and the Dhanbad project office.
A rate that high on a short length tells you the money is in structures and in working next to one of the busiest freight corridors in the country rather than in plain carriageway. Expect retaining work, service road rebuilding and drainage through a built up pocket.
One year, and the notice is old
The work period is 365 days. EMD is ₹1,11,00,000, about 1 per cent, with no exemption, and the fee is ₹20,000. The notice has been live since 7 May 2026, so the closing date has moved before and the competition has had months with the drawings.
On a job this short the camp, the plant and the stockyard all sit within a few kilometres, which cuts your lead costs but leaves nowhere to hide a mistake in sequencing. Excavators and tippers handle the widening and the drain work, a motor grader and compactors build the layers, and a wheel loader keeps the hot mix plant going. Structures bring in transit mixers and a crane for girders and precast units. Twelve months on the GT Road means most of the real work happens at night.
