MoRTH has put Package II of its Birbhum highway programme out to bid, 27 km of NH-14 from Mollarpur to Nalhati plus four black spots, and the ₹79 crore Mollarpur Nalhati road tender closes at 2:00 PM on 14 December 2026.
Twenty seven kilometres and four black spots
The work runs from km 374.00 at Mollarpur to km 401.00 at Nalhati and includes rectification of four numbered black spots, carried as Job No. NH 14 WB 2026-27 587 under reference 01 of 2026-27 Sr.SE NHC-II. The regional office at Kolkata and the NH wing of West Bengal PWD at Birbhum handle it, on EPC mode with 365 days.
A black spot is a location with a repeated accident history, and fixing one is rarely just resurfacing. It usually means changing geometry, sightlines, median openings, bus bays or junction layout, which is detailed work squeezed between long stretches of straightforward strengthening.
One year, and what that means for your programme
The deposit is ₹79,00,000, 1 per cent of the ₹79,00,00,000 estimate, with no exemption, and the fee is ₹10,000. Bids open at 2:00 PM on 15 December. A 365 day EPC period on a live national highway is the real constraint here: you get one working season, so mobilisation has to be ready the week the award lands.
Strengthening on an existing carriageway is paving led. The controlling items are a paver, a motor grader for the granular layers and two or three compactors, with tippers feeding from a hot mix plant you either own or hire nearby. Excavators handle shoulder cutting, drains and the black spot earthwork, and a backhoe loader takes the culverts and utility shifting. Our road construction equipment guide sets out the layer by layer sequence. Work next to live traffic in a 365 day window needs more traffic management than most bidders price for.
