NHAI Regional Office Mumbai is taking bids on three highway upkeep packages worth ₹130.83 crore together, and these NHAI maintenance tenders close on 31 October 2026, so the window is short.
Three project units, one kind of contract
The three notices read alike: urgent safety and maintenance related work at risk and cost of the main contractor or concessionaire, to improve the experience of road users. NHAI uses this route when the party responsible for a stretch has let the upkeep slip. The authority gets the work done through a fresh contract and charges it back to the defaulter.
PIU Shirdi, formerly Ahilyanagar, has the largest of the three at ₹65,43,37,264, reference NHAI/RO/MUM/Shirdi/RC/2026/45. PIU Solapur follows at ₹33,96,22,688, reference NHAI/RO/MUM/SOLAPUR/RC/2026/46. The third, ₹31,43,95,196 under reference NHAI/RO/MUM/CSN/RC/2026/44, names its stretches: the Yedshi Aurangabad section, Aurangabad Karodi Telwadi, and Aurangabad Paithan.
Why the clock matters here
Unlike many NHAI notices, all three carry published values rather than blanks, and each EMD works out to exactly 2 per cent: ₹1,30,86,746, ₹67,92,453 and ₹62,87,903. The fee is ₹10,000 a package with no exemption. Shirdi and Solapur close at 6:00 PM on 31 October and the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar package an hour earlier at 5:00 PM, so check the clock on the one you want. All three open together at 11:00 AM on 2 November.
With only days left, this is a tender for a firm that already has the deposit arranged and a digital signature live. If the timing is too tight, the same belt has longer runways: balance work on NH-652 in Solapur district closes on 25 November and the Lonar bypass on NH-548C on 16 November.
What goes on the trailer
Upkeep contracts reward a small, mobile set of machines over a big spread. Potholes, edge repair and overlay patches mean bituminous work behind a hot mix supply, so a compactor and a motor grader do most of the earning. Drain cleaning, shoulder dressing and culvert repair keep a backhoe loader busy across the length.
Barrier and signage replacement needs a light crane and mixers for footings. Because the money is spread over scattered chainages rather than one site, haulage and crew logistics decide the margin more than machine capacity. Our road construction equipment guide covers how the pavement machines work together.
