NHAI Regional Office Nagpur has put three safety and maintenance packages worth roughly ₹147 crore out together, and all three Nagpur maintenance tenders close at 11:00 AM on 2 November 2026.
Work NHAI does when a contractor will not
Each of the three notices uses the same wording: carrying out urgent safety and maintenance related work at risk and cost of the main contractor or concessionaire, to improve the experience of road users. That phrase is the whole story. The stretch is under an existing contract or concession, the party responsible has not done the upkeep, and NHAI is appointing someone else to do it and recovering the money from the defaulter.
Two packages sit with PIU Nagpur and cover NH-47, NH-547E and the Nagpur Outer Ring Road. Package I is reference NHAI/RO/NAG/NGP/RC/Pkg.I/26/43 and Package II is NHAI/RO/NGP/NAG/RC/PkgII/26/44. The third, reference NHAI/RO/NGP/AMT/RC/2026/41, covers National Highway sections under PIU Amravati.
Short contracts, fast payment cycles
None of the three shows a tender value on the portal. The deposits do the talking: ₹1,27,70,200 for Package I, ₹1,11,52,025 for Package II and ₹55,48,100 for Amravati. At the usual 2 per cent that points to about ₹63.85 crore, ₹55.76 crore and ₹27.74 crore in turn, roughly ₹147.35 crore in total. Treat those as a guide, not a published figure.
Package I and the Amravati package carry a 120 day completion period, which is unusually short for this money and tells you NHAI wants the defects closed inside one working season. The fee is ₹10,000 a package and EMD exemption is not allowed on any of them. Bids open at 11:00 AM on 3 November, a day after closing.
This is patch, seal and safety work spread thin over long lengths, so machine utilisation beats machine size. Expect bituminous repairs behind a hot mix supply, which puts a compactor and a motor grader on the road most days, and shoulder and drain repair for a backhoe loader.
Crash barrier, signage and marking work needs a light crane or boom and a steady concrete supply from transit mixers for barrier footings. Owners with machines already parked near Nagpur or Amravati have a real edge on a 120 day job, because mobilisation cost eats the margin on contracts this short. The road construction equipment guide sets out what each machine does on a pavement layer.
Urgent safety and maintenance work on National Highway sections, carried out at the risk and cost of the main contractor or concessionaire who failed to do the upkeep. Two packages cover NH-47, NH-547E and the Nagpur Outer Ring Road under PIU Nagpur; the third covers sections under PIU Amravati.
