Two junctions, one river and a lot of structure

NHAI Regional Office Nagpur wants a six lane flyover and a vehicular underpass with service roads, plus service road bridges across the Chandrabhaga river and allied works, from Km 11.930 to Km 14.100 of NH-547E. The stated purpose is long term road safety improvement at Dhapewada and Adasa junctions. Reference is NHAI/RO/NAG/PIU/NAG/2026/46, the mode is EPC and the period is 730 days.

Dhapewada and Adasa both draw pilgrim traffic that crosses the highway on foot and by two wheeler. A flyover at one junction and an underpass at the other takes that conflict out of the main carriageway, which is why NHAI frames the job as safety rather than capacity.

What goes on site first

River crossings set the programme. The service road bridges across the Chandrabhaga have to be founded in the dry season, so piling and substructure come first, with excavators cutting access and a crane working the piers. The flyover and the underpass then run in parallel, which usually means two cranes and a steady concrete supply through transit mixers. An underpass is the wet one: dewatering, sheet piling and a backhoe loader almost permanently in the excavation. Service roads and approaches finish with a motor grader and compactors.
