The Cat D8 is a 39-tonne mining crawler dozer with a 363 HP engine. It provides an entry point into Cat's larger mining machines and sits below the D10 and D11. Blade capacity reaches 10.3 m³, giving it substantial material-moving ability for mine benches and haul roads. Ground bearing pressure of 88.5 kPa suits firm mining ground. Multi-shank and single-shank ripper configurations are available, with the single-shank option using CapSure hammerless tips. A pin-puller option is available for tip changes. These features are useful where ripping forms a regular part of the work cycle. A 624-litre fuel tank supports full-shift operation.
