Seven tools for the numbers behind a machine purchase: the on-road price after tax and paperwork, the EMI your down payment allows, diesel cost per hour, the hours you must bill to break even, buy or hire, two machines side by side, and what a used machine is worth. Pick any model listed on DesiMachines and its listed price fills in; change any other figure to your own.
On-road price calculator
Where the numbers come from. Our price data means it is the price listed on the DesiMachines
model page (indicative, ex-factory), or the average of the listed prices for that type of machine.
Market range means it is a rate the market was quoting
in 2025–26.
Estimate — check means it is our own working number
and we have not confirmed it with a dealer, so treat it as a starting point.
Standard factor means a standard engineering value, not a price.
Assumptions used in every tool. GST is 18% on earthmoving machines (HSN 8429); tippers and
trucks differ. Machine prices are the indicative ex-factory bands listed on DesiMachines model pages, or the
average of listed prices for that type; they are not quotes. First-year insurance is taken as about 2% of the
price, registration and road tax as about ₹45,000 (wheeled machines only; crawler machines are not
registered), handling as about ₹15,000. Loans assume 20% down, 11% a year and 5 years unless you change
them. Diesel is taken at ₹92 a litre and a typical burn for the machine class. Every one of these is a
field you can change, and the “What we assumed” list under each result shows what the answer used.
Please read. These calculators give an indicative estimate, not a quote. Prices,
hire rates, diesel prices, salaries, taxes and interest rates change by state, by season and by
buyer. Loan terms and eligibility depend on your bank or NBFC. Resale figures are a band, not a
valuation. Confirm the final numbers with our team, your dealer and your lender before you commit money.
Model prices come from the DesiMachines catalogue as it stands today. Last updated: 13 September 2026.
Not sure which machine you need yet? The machine finder asks about your job and suggests the type and size; the calculators here then work out what it costs.
How each number is worked out
On-road price = ex-factory price + GST + first-year insurance + registration and road tax where the machine is RTO-registered + handling and delivery + attachments fitted − any discount agreed. Crawler machines are not road-registered, so for them the tool drops the registration line and you add trailer transport to site instead.
EMI uses the standard reducing-balance formula: instalment = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1), where P is the loan after the down payment, r the monthly rate and n the number of months. Run it the other way and it turns the instalment you can manage into the machine you can afford.
Diesel cost = litres per hour × pump price, then × hours a day × days a month for the monthly bill. The tool also shows what one litre an hour saved is worth over a year at your hours.
Break-even hours = fixed cost a month (EMI + operator + service and insurance) ÷ (wet hire rate − diesel cost per hour). Every billed hour above that number is profit; every hour below it is loss.
Buy or hire compares the fixed cost of owning against paying a hire rate for the hours you need. Owning wins above the crossover hours; hiring wins below them, and at your hours there is a hire rate below which hiring is the right call.
Compare two machines runs the break-even sum for both machines on the same job and hours, then finds the hours at which the cheaper one changes.
Resale value = what you paid × the share of value the model keeps each year, raised to its age, then adjusted for hours run against normal use, shown as a band of ±10%.
Common questions
Where do the default figures come from?
Machine prices are the bands listed on DesiMachines model pages, or the average of the listed prices for that type when no model is chosen. Diesel use, operator pay and hire rates are marked in the tool as either a market range or our own estimate. Every figure is editable, and each one says which kind it is.
Are these calculators a quote?
No. They are indicative estimates from figures you enter. Prices, hire rates, diesel prices, salaries, taxes and interest rates change by state, season and buyer. Confirm the final numbers with our team, your dealer and your lender before committing money. Every model page carries the same calculators with that model already filled in.
