What the DMRC viaduct tender actually covers

This is a part design and construction contract for the MRTS Phase-IV corridor. The scope runs from elevated viaduct and at-grade viaduct through sidings, elevated ramps and the entry and exit line into the depot, and it includes ten elevated stations plus one at-grade station. Architectural finishes and the pre-engineered building work are carved out of this package, so what a bidder is pricing here is structure: piling, pier work, segment casting and erection, station box civil work and the depot connection.

Who should be looking at this one

Realistically this is EPC territory. A metro viaduct package of this size needs a contractor who can run a casting yard, move launching girders through live Delhi traffic and hold the programme across eleven station sites at once. Prequalification on jobs of this scale is strict, so smaller firms are better placed to chase subcontract packages once the main award lands: piling, earthwork, station finishes downstream, and plant hire.

Piling rigs and service cranes come first, followed by heavy crawler and truck cranes for segment handling. Expect steady demand for excavators on pile caps and station excavation, concrete mixers and transit mixers feeding the casting yard, backhoe loaders on utility diversion and shoring, and compactors on the depot and approach road works. Launching gantries are usually brought in by the main contractor, but almost everything below them gets hired locally.
