The Navy’s air station at Arakkonam is building the hangars and support works for its high altitude long endurance drones, and the ₹123.5 crore INS Rajali tender closes at 6:00 PM on 5 December 2026.
What is being built at Arakkonam
Military Engineer Services, through the Chief Engineer East Coast and Chief Engineer Navy Vizag, has tendered provision of maintenance infrastructure and associated facilities for HALE RPA at INS Rajali, Arakkonam, reference 88766. HALE RPA is the Navy’s term for high altitude long endurance remotely piloted aircraft. The contract is lump-sum at ₹1,23,50,00,000 with 760 days, under Garrison Engineer Arakkonam.
Work of this kind is specialised building rather than airfield paving: maintenance hangars, technical accommodation and the services that go with them, built to defence specification on an operational air station. Site access is controlled and the programme has to work around flying.
A small deposit on a large contract
EMD is ₹15,00,000 with exemption allowed, and the tender fee is ₹3,000. That is the MES pattern: the deposit is nominal and the filtering happens through enlistment class and past performance. If you are not already on the MES register in the right class, this tender is not the place to start.
Hangar and technical building work is foundation, frame and finishing. Expect excavators on the foundations and the service trenches, backhoe loaders for the drainage and the external works, and a crane on site for most of the programme once steel and precast start arriving. Concrete comes in transit mixers from a plant in the Arakkonam or Ranipet belt, with a wheel loader at the aggregate stack. Hardstanding and road work around the buildings brings in a compactor.
