IRCON has a ₹96.27 crore ballastless track tender open for the hill section of the Kottavalasa Koraput doubling project, and bids close at 3:00 PM on 6 October 2026.
Twenty-seven kilometres of concrete track bed
The work runs from Shivalingapuram station at km 45.483 to Borraguhalu station at km 72.550 on the Kottavalasa Koraput line of East Coast Railway, which IRCON is doubling. The portal puts the site at Tyda in Visakhapatnam district. Ballastless track replaces loose stone with a cast concrete bed, and railways use it where ballast is hard to maintain, mainly inside tunnels and on long viaducts.
IRCON calls it an EPC package. The portal lists the form of contract as percentage, with 1,050 days to complete.
A specialist job with room for local fleets
The main bidder needs track-slab experience, and the money at stake is real: EMD is ₹1,92,54,000, 2 per cent of the estimate, and the fee is ₹50,000. For plant owners around Visakhapatnam and Araku the opening is in supply and hire, because concrete has to be batched, carried and placed along a single-line hill route for nearly three years.
Expect a batching plant at the nearest road head, transit mixers and rail-mounted carriers to take concrete to the pour, and pumps for placing. Small cranes and hydra-type pick-and-carry units handle reinforcement and sleepers, while backhoe loaders and compact excavators prepare the bed and clear drains. Access is the hard part of the ghat section, so plan on machines that can travel on narrow service roads or on rail trolleys.
