The approach roads on both banks of the iconic Krishna river bridge on NH-167K are out to bid at ₹340 crore, and the Krishna bridge approaches tender closes at 3:00 PM on 16 November 2026.
Two reaches that feed one bridge
The work covers km 79.300 to km 87.360 and km 88.437 to km 93.819 of NH-167K, rehabilitated and upgraded to two and four lanes with paved shoulders, on EPC basis across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Regional Office at Hyderabad is inviting bids under reference RW/HYD/Misc-28/NIT/2023-24/008 dt 07.10.2023, with 730 days allowed.
The gap in the chainages between km 87.360 and km 88.437 is the bridge itself, which is tendered separately as the iconic hybrid cable stayed and suspension bridge across the Krishna. Whoever wins the approaches has to programme around the bridge contractor, because both need the same river bank access at the same time.
Terms, and a sibling notice
EMD is ₹3,40,00,000 against the ₹3,40,00,00,000 estimate with no exemption, and the fee is ₹47,200. Bids open at 3:00 PM on 17 November 2026. The notice carries a 2023 reference with the submission date carried forward, so read the corrigenda.
This NIT is one of a pair. Its sibling, numbered 009 in the same series, is the Nehru Nagar to Kothagudem upgrade on NH-930P from the same regional office, closing on the same afternoon.
Approach embankments next to a big river
Approach work at a major crossing means high embankments, reinforced earth walls and ramps built up to deck level. Excavators and tippers move most of the volume, and compactors work in thin lifts because settlement at the bridge abutment is the defect that shows up first.
Expect transit mixers for the retaining structures and a crane for panel and girder handling on the minor structures. The Krishna floods, so the window for working near the bank is set by the river, not the contract. Fleet owners in Jaggayyapet, Nandigama and Miryalaguda are closest to both banks.
