The package covers construction of four lanes from Kadur at km 256.530 to Hasnapur and Potulamadugu at km 267.360, forming the Mahabubnagar bypass on NH-167. Length is 10.830 km and the mode is EPC under an item rate contract. A town bypass of this size usually carries a full greenfield formation, structures at the crossing points, and tie-ins at both ends where the new carriageway rejoins the existing highway. Two covers, 120 days bid validity, tendered through NHAI’s Telangana Division.

Contractor fit

At just under 11 km, this sits in a useful middle band. It is too large for a small local firm to take on alone, but well within reach of mid-size highway contractors in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh who do not usually compete for 500 crore packages. Equipment on a bypass job

Greenfield bypass construction is earthwork-heavy at the start. Tracked excavators and dozers strip and cut, tippers haul from borrow areas, and motor graders with vibratory soil compactors build the embankment in layers. Once formation is up, the granular and bituminous layers bring pavers, tandem rollers and pneumatic tyred rollers onto the site. Structures at the crossings need a batching plant, transit mixers and a crawler or truck crane. Because the reach is short, a single well-equipped spread can hold the whole front, which keeps plant costs tighter than on a long widening contract.
