The corridor runs from the Punjabi Bagh underpass out to the Tikri Border, so you are working through dense city traffic with services under the road and structures along it. On EPC the contractor carries design and build together, which means your programme, your plant and your traffic-management plan decide whether this job makes money. Tender fee is ₹ 25,000 and the earnest money is ₹ 3.42 Cr.

Who’s a fit

NHAI EPC road work at this size is for established highway contractors. You will need the turnover, the bid capacity and similar completed road or structure work that the RFP asks for, plus the cash to front a ₹ 3.42 Cr EMD and mobilise fast. Smaller firms aren’t shut out of the value chain: the main bidder still hires graders, pavers, compactors and tippers, and sublets stretches of carriageway and drain work. If you own that plant, this is the kind of long city job that keeps a fleet booked for months.

Machines you’ll run on NH-9

City highway improvement leans on a full paving train. Expect to deploy hydraulic excavators and tippers for dismantling and earthwork, a motor grader and soil compactors for the base, a hot-mix plant feeding a sensor paver, and tandem plus pneumatic rollers behind it. Add a milling machine for surface correction, kerb-casting machines, road sweepers and water tankers for dust, and a hydra or pick-and-carry crane for the structure and drain work. Night working is likely, so lighting towers and a tidy traffic-diversion setup matter as much as the iron.
