Mumbai is tendering the pipeline that will carry raw water from Pise to Panjrapur, and the Pise Panjrapur tender closes at 2:00 PM on 26 November 2026.
Six years of work on one water line
The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, through its Water Supply Project wing, wants the raw water conveyance system from Pise to Panjrapur designed and constructed under one lump-sum contract, reference MGC/F/2468 dtd 27.10.2026. The portal gives 2,190 days, which is six years, and files the job under civil works for water works.
Panjrapur is where Mumbai treats the water it draws from the Bhatsa and Upper Vaitarna systems. A new conveyance line from Pise is the kind of job that runs through Thane district farmland and settlements, so right of way and crossings shape the programme as much as the pipe laying does.
A deposit that tells you the size
The portal does not print a tender value. What it does print is an EMD of ₹22,00,00,000, and at the usual 2 per cent that points to roughly ₹1,100 crore. Treat that as a guide, not a published figure. The tender fee is ₹39,265 and EMD exemption is not allowed, which keeps smaller firms out of the main bid.
For machine owners the money is in hire. A pipeline of this length runs several trenching fronts at once, and the winning contractor will subcontract haulage and earthwork. Mumbai also has the Ulhasnagar water supply tender and the Dadar Dharavi nalla wall tender open right now.
Trenching fleet, not a dam fleet
Large diameter raw water mains are laid in deep open trench with sheet piling where the ground is poor. Plan on excavators in the 20 tonne class for the trench, backhoe loaders for the service crossings and the manhole work, and a crane at each stringing yard to drop pipe into the trench. Thrust blocks and chambers need steady concrete from transit mixers, and backfill compaction is compactor work in narrow lifts. Six years is long enough to justify buying rather than hiring, so equipment finance is worth costing into the bid.
