Kendujhar district is getting 9.99 km of concrete road between Rangadihi and the Jagadal dam for Rs 54.43 crore from district mineral foundation funds, and the Rangadihi Jagadal Dam road tender closes at 5:00 PM on 2 November 2026.
Concrete, not bitumen, and the reason why
The work is widening and strengthening of the Rangadihi, Fuljhar, Balabhadrapur, Jagadal Dam road from chainage 16/920 to 26/905, taking it from a double lane to a double lane with paved shoulder carriageway with rigid concrete pavement, in Kendujhar district under the district mineral foundation for 2026-27. The Engineer in Chief, Civil, Odisha is the inviting authority, reference CE-BRIDGES-I-14/ 2026-27, on an item rate contract with 457 days.
Kendujhar is iron ore country and these roads carry loaded trucks all year. Bitumen fails fast under that axle load in the monsoon, which is why the department has specified rigid concrete pavement here.
Terms and who usually wins DMF road work
The estimate is Rs 54,43,00,000, the deposit Rs 54,43,000 at 1 per cent, and the fee Rs 10,000. Bids open at 3:00 PM on 3 November. DMF funded road work tends to go to Odisha contractors who already have mining area experience, because site access, haul road sharing and local labour arrangements are half the job.
A rigid pavement job is built around concrete supply, not around a hot mix plant. You need transit mixers in enough numbers to keep a paving train moving without a cold joint, and a wheel loader holding the batching plant feed. Excavators and tippers prepare the subgrade and the widened shoulder, a motor grader trims the sub base, and compactors bring the granular layers up before the slab goes on. Keep a backhoe loader for drains and culverts right through. There is more on layer by layer plant in our notes on road construction equipment.
