The same reservoir, a different district: Andhra Pradesh has tendered a Rs1,030.44 crore multi-village water supply scheme drawing from Yeleru Reservoir for the Anakapalli segment, closing 19 August 2026.
Yeleru Reservoir is being tapped for two separate schemes in this round, one for Kakinada and this one for Anakapalli district. The Anakapalli package carries an estimated contract value of Rs1,030.44 crore against an NIT headline of Rs1,550.00 crore, and it is handled by the Superintending Engineer, PRED RWS Visakhapatnam, under Chief Engineer-I at Vijayawada.
A multi-village scheme of this size is mostly linear work. Intake and pumping arrangements at the reservoir, a treatment plant, transmission mains running out across mandals, then storage reservoirs and distribution inside each habitation. Very little of it sits in one place, which changes how a contractor plans machine deployment and camp locations.
Main contract bidders will be EPC firms with a track record on district water schemes. For everyone else the value sits in the subcontract layer: trenching runs, cross-drainage and road crossings, valve and air-release chambers, service reservoirs and reinstatement behind the pipe crew. Anakapalli contractors already working on the Tandava scheme in the same district will find the mobilisation overlap useful.
Trenching drives the fleet. Tracked excavators on the mains, backhoe loaders through village lanes where access is tight, compactors behind the backfill crew and tippers hauling spoil. Cranes handle pipe laying at the larger diameters and the pumping station erection, and concrete mixers cover chambers, thrust blocks and reservoir work.

Andhra Pradesh released a block of these schemes together. The Gandikota Madanapalle package in Annamayya and the OWK Reservoir package in Kurnool come from the same Chief Engineer and close on 18 August, a day before this one.
