What the contract is
This one keeps the port working. Silt builds up, and it has to be cleared on a rolling basis so ships can berth safely — so the job runs for three years from 2026-27 rather than as a one-off campaign. That steady, assured workload is the real attraction here; it changes the maths on a dredger. The port’s Civil Engineering department is procuring it on item-rate terms, which means you are paid on the volume of material you actually move.
Who can bid
Be clear-eyed: this is specialist marine work, not a general civil job. You need an owned or chartered dredging fleet to be a serious bidder. The EMD is ₹5.64 crore, but exemption is allowed — usually for MSE bidders who qualify — so check whether that covers you. Bid validity runs 180 days. If you do not have a dredger, this is not the tender to chase as a prime; if you run survey vessels or marine plant, you can partner a lead dredging firm instead.
The plant you need
Think cutter-suction or trailing-suction hopper dredgers, survey and sounding vessels, booster pumps and discharge pipelines for the spoil. That is the core of it. There is no shortcut around the fleet — the contract lives or dies on dredger availability over the three years, so line up your capacity before you commit.
