Bihar Sharif Doubling Tender: Karnauti to Bihar Sharif Railway EPC, Bihar

East Central Railway is inviting EPC bids worth ₹575.14 crore to double 26.292 km of track from Karnauti to Bihar Sharif in Bihar, and bidding stays open until 30 December 2026.

The stretch belongs to the Bakhtiyarpur–Rajgir–Tilaiya doubling programme. It starts at Karnauti station at chainage 2.844 km and ends short of Bihar Sharif station at chainage 29.350 km, with the contract itself covering chainage 1.900 km to 28.192 km.

Scope on the ground

This one reads like a straightforward earthwork and structures contract, which is exactly why it is worth a look. The scope names earthwork, blanketing, minor bridges, major bridges, level crossing replacements and road under-bridges, track work, platform work, a station building, foot over-bridges and other buildings, plus the associated signalling and electrical utility shifting. Everything is built to 25 tonne Indian Railway Standard Loading, so the formation and the structures are specified for heavy axle loads rather than light passenger traffic.

Twenty-six kilometres of doubling on an existing corridor is a long, linear job. The earthwork and blanketing alone will run for most of the contract, and utility shifting usually decides how early the formation can actually start.
