The Jujuwa Gandeva expressway tender is back: NHAI wants a contractor to finish Package VIII of the Vadodara Mumbai Expressway in Gujarat, worth ₹1,475.68 crore, with bids due by 13 October 2026.
A second call for km 154.6 to km 190
Package VIII covers the eight-lane, access-controlled expressway from km 154.6 to km 190.0, the Jujuwa to Gandeva section, which is about 35.4 km. Like its neighbour, it is balance work: an earlier contract on this stretch did not finish, and NHAI is tendering what remains on EPC mode. The notice is marked as the second call, so a first round has already been run without an award that stuck.
The package starts exactly where Package IX ends. That one, km 128.0 to km 154.6 between Karvad and Jujuwa, is on our site as the Vadodara Mumbai Expressway balance work tender. Anyone who priced that stretch already knows the corridor, the part-built structures and the Surat unit running both.
Money and who it suits
EMD is ₹14,76,00,000, one per cent of the estimate, so the value holds. The tender fee is ₹1,50,000 and the listed form is an EPC contract. The notice was published on 14 September 2026, bids close on 13 October and open on 14 October 2026.
At close to ₹1,500 crore, the main bid belongs to national highway EPC firms. Balance work tends to have more loose ends than a greenfield job: surveying what is usable, fixing damaged layers and finishing half-built structures. That means plenty of packaged sub-work for regional contractors and hired fleets once the award is made. The Ahmedabad Vadodara overlay tender is another live NHAI road job in the same part of Gujarat.
Plant for finishing an expressway
Most of the remaining effort on a part-built eight-lane is pavement and structures. Expect motor graders and vibratory and tandem rollers on the sub-base and bituminous layers, with wheel loaders feeding the plants. Unfinished bridges and interchanges bring cranes for girder launching and a steady run of transit mixers, while excavators take on drains, ducts and the remaining cut and fill.
