Military Engineer Services has put a ₹456 crore job to resurface the runway at Air Force Station Ambala on the defence portal, and the Ambala runway resurfacing tender closes at 6:00 PM on 3 November 2026.
A runway job, priced like a highway package
The scope is resurfacing of the runway along with connected works at AF Station Ambala. It is run by HQ CE (AF) WAC at Palam through the Garrison Engineer (Project) (AF) Ambala, under reference CEWAC/AMB/T-07/2026-27. The tender id ends in _2, so this is a fresh call on an earlier notice; if you looked at the first call, download the documents again rather than working from old papers.
Bid submission only opens at 6:00 PM on 27 October and runs for a week, to 6:00 PM on 3 November. Bids are opened at HQ CE (AF) WAC Palam at noon on 5 November 2026.
What the money looks like
The tender value is ₹4,56,00,00,000 on an item rate contract with 730 days to finish. EMD is ₹15,00,000 with exemption allowed. That is about 0.3 per cent of the value, which is normal on MES work because the deposit is capped at ₹15 lakh whatever the size of the job. The fee is ₹3,000.
Runway work is done in short closures, so the fleet has to be big enough to lay a lot in a single window. Milling machines strip the old surface, a hot mix plant and sensor pavers lay the new courses, and tandem and pneumatic rollers finish them. Wheel loaders feed the plant, motor graders trim the shoulders and excavators handle drains and connected works. Our road construction equipment guide covers each stage. Fleet owners around Ambala, Yamunanagar and Rajpura can expect hire enquiries from whoever wins.
