Lokhandi Sawargaon Tender: Widening 19 km with a Service Road in Latur (Rs 104.5 Cr)

MoRTH is widening 19.39 km between Lokhandi Sawargaon and Bardapur Phata in Latur district for ₹104.5 crore, and the Lokhandi Sawargaon tender closes at 5:30 PM on 2 November 2026.

Two configurations on one stretch

The work is widening and upgradation to two lane with paved shoulder, with a service road and four lane paved shoulder configuration, from design km 32.225 to km 51.615 between Lokhandi Sawargaon and Bardapur Phata. The grade separator from km 35.600 to 37.500 and the toll plaza from km 39.200 to 39.300 are excluded. The reference is NIT No. 04/EENHD/Latur/1873/2026 from the NH Maharashtra PWD division at Aurangabad.

Two configurations on one short stretch means the cross section changes more than once along the 19 km. That is a setting out and sequencing problem as much as a construction one, and the excluded pockets break the work into disconnected lengths, which pushes up mobilisation.

Exemption allowed, which is unusual

The portal shows ₹1,04,49,82,939 with an EMD of ₹1,04,00,000 at about 1 per cent, and EMD exemption is allowed, which is worth noting because most highway packages do not permit it. Smaller registered firms with exemption certificates should look at this one properly. The fee is ₹20,000, the work period is 365 days and bids open at 11:00 AM on 4 November.

Service roads double the drainage work

Adding a service road alongside a widening means two carriageways, two sets of shoulders and a lot more cross drainage than the headline length suggests. Excavators and tippers handle the widening cut and fill, backhoe loaders do the drains and the service road formation where space is tight, and a motor grader with compactors builds the layers on both. Transit mixers serve the culverts and the junction slabs. One year for 19 km with changing cross sections is tight, so the fleet has to be on site from week one rather than hired as the work reaches each section.
