PQC is pavement quality concrete, the rigid slab used where local traffic turns in and out and where bitumen would be chewed up by slow, heavy vehicles.

Excavators and backhoe loaders cut the subgrade and build drains, a motor grader trims the sub-base, and a pick-and-carry crane handles form panels and precast drain units. Ninety days means pours have to be planned around traffic diversions.
