A joint venture of LCC Projects has won a Rs 717.46 crore contract to build an artificial reservoir at Dhanoti in Rajasthan’s Churu district, under the state’s Yamuna Water Project. For earthmoving contractors and machine owners in Shekhawati, this is a two-year bulk-earthwork job on one site, the kind of work that keeps an excavator-and-tipper spread busy in one place instead of moving it between short packages.
What was announced
- Winner: NEC-LCC JV, in which LCC Projects holds 30 percent. Client: the Office of the Additional Chief Engineer, Yamuna Water Zone, Jaipur.
- Value: Rs 717.46 crore excluding GST for the whole JV. LCC’s 30 percent share works out to about Rs 215 crore.
- Scope: survey, design, construction, and operation and maintenance of Reservoir-A at Dhanoti, in Phase-I of the Hansiyawas Reservoir Complex, on an EPC turnkey basis.
- Term: 24 months of construction, then 10 years of O&M. LCC disclosed the letter of acceptance to BSE at 14:48 IST on Friday 06 Nov 2026.
What LCC told the exchanges
LCC Projects filed the letter of acceptance with BSE and NSE on Friday afternoon. Zee Business, which reported on the filing, said the contract is lump-sum EPC work and quoted the company’s chairman and managing director calling the Yamuna Water Project link an important milestone. EquityPandit carried the same scope and the 24-month-plus-10-year term. According to Zee Business, the award came three days after a Rs 703 crore water-supply EPC order from the Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board, which the company disclosed on 03 November.
The filing, as reported, gives no storage capacity, no start date, and no split of the Rs 717.46 crore between construction and the ten years of upkeep.
Does this change what a Shekhawati contractor should line up?
An off-stream storage reservoir is mostly earthwork. The bowl gets dug out and the dug material goes into a compacted embankment around it. That pulls a familiar fleet: 20 to 30 tonne crawler excavators loading tippers, dozers spreading fill in layers, a motor grader trimming each layer, and vibratory soil compactors rolling behind water tankers that bring the fill up to moisture. If the bowl is lined, which the reports do not say, a concrete or membrane crew arrives late in the programme.
Water could be the hidden cost line. Fill has to be wetted before it is rolled, and Churu gets little rain, so tanker hours may run high until canal or pipeline water reaches the site. That is our reading of the setting, not a published spec. The same dry climate cuts the other way: the monsoon should cost fewer working days here than on most irrigation and dam jobs, and summer heat becomes the bigger limit on shifts.
Now the money shape. Rs 717.46 crore over 24 months is about Rs 30 crore a month if it were all construction. It isn’t: an undisclosed slice pays for ten years of operation and maintenance, so the real monthly build spend is lower. Even so, one site for two years is a clean case for the JV to own its core loading and hauling plant and hire only for peaks. For local owners, the likely openings are compactor, grader and tanker hours, plus tippers.
The labels hint at more. “Reservoir-A” in “Phase-I” of a reservoir complex suggests further storage packages under the same zone office. None has been announced, so treat it as a lead.
Dates to note
- 06 Nov 2026: letter of acceptance disclosed to the exchanges. The 24-month clock runs from a start date not yet published.
- Capacity, lining specification and start date, which together set the fleet size and the concrete share.
- Any further Hansiyawas or Yamuna Water Project packages from the Yamuna Water Zone office in Jaipur.
