Forty kilometres of half finished four lane highway between Bhadohi and Varanasi go back to the market at ₹236.94 crore, and the Bhadohi Varanasi tender closes at 11:00 AM on 30 November 2026.
Picking up someone else’s road
MoRTH wants the balance work for widening to four lanes of the Bhadohi to Varanasi section of NH-731B, from design km 49.200 to km 89.285, on a percentage rate basis. The Regional Officer at Lucknow issued it on 16 October 2026 under reference CE-RO/LKO/NH(D)/04/NH 731B/Balance work/2026-27 dated 16.10.2026.
Balance work means part of the alignment is already built and part is not. Before you price it, walk the 40 km and record what is finished, what is half laid and what has sat open through two monsoons. Earthwork that has weathered usually has to come out again, and that is where bidders lose money on this kind of package.
Terms and the UP competition
The portal shows ₹2,36,94,00,000 as the value and ₹2,37,00,000 as the EMD, almost exactly 1 per cent, with no exemption. The fee is ₹30,000. No work period is listed, so take it from the tender document. Bids open at 3:00 PM on 1 December.
This is flat alluvial country with soft subgrade in patches and a lot of village crossings. Expect embankment raising, so excavators and a steady tipper fleet feed the line while a motor grader and compactors build the layers. Culverts and the structures left half done need transit mixers and a crane. A wheel loader at the hot mix plant keeps the paving train fed. Our guide to road construction equipment sets out what each stage of a widening job actually demands.
