What the two packages cover
The Public Works Department has put out a pair of structure jobs under the same division, with the same officer inviting both and the same closing and opening dates. The larger one, tender 197328 at ₹38.95 crore, is a road over bridge at the Parras crossing (No. DD-50) on the Lohara to Balod road, over the Durg to Dalli Rajhara rail line. The second, tender 198250 at ₹37.08 crore, is a high level bridge with approaches across the Mahanadi on the Samoda to Chikhli to Sirpur road. Together they come to ₹76.03 crore.
Who should bid
Both carry a flat earnest money of ₹5,00,000 and no tender fee. That is a capped deposit rather than a percentage, and it is worth reading the right way: if the estimates were a hundred times smaller, that same deposit would be more than 12 per cent of the contract, which no department charges. The disclosed values stand and the deposit is simply fixed. A flat figure also lowers the entry barrier, so expect a crowded field of regional contractors on both. Each package is well within reach of a single competent bridge firm, and bidding for both is realistic if your plant can cover two sites.
Machines you will need
A river bridge and a rail over bridge need much the same fleet. Excavators open the foundations, and on the Mahanadi expect dewatering and possibly a piling rig depending on what the drawings show in the bed. Concrete is the main spend: transit mixers, a pump and a batching setup if the sites are far from a plant. A hydraulic crane handles girders, shuttering and precast on both. Approaches bring in tippers, a motor grader and vibratory rollers, and a backhoe loader covers services and drains.

Why is the earnest money only ₹5,00,000?
Chhattisgarh PWD uses a flat capped deposit on these packages instead of a percentage of the estimate. It is not a sign that the values are wrong, and it does lower the entry barrier for smaller firms.
Can one contractor bid for both?
Nothing in the notices prevents it, and the sites are in different districts. Check the pre-qualification document for each, because plant and personnel commitments are assessed per package.
Have the tenders been amended?
Yes. Amendment No 01 has been published against both, and 198250 also had its closing date moved from 15 to 16 September 2026. Chhattisgarh publishes the amendment as a document without a corrigendum number, so open the file itself.
