Delhi Metro has opened bidding for a twin tunnel driven by shield machine from IGD-1 to the dead end, plus one underground station on the Line-10 extension, and the DMRC Line 10 tunnel tender closes at 3:00 PM on 14 December 2026.
Shield drive, cut and cover, and one station box
The package, numbered EC-06 under the JICA funded group of DMRC tenders, covers design and construction of the up and down tunnels by shield between IGD-1 and the dead end, a stretch of tunnel built by cut and cover, and one underground station with its entry and exit structures and connecting subways. It belongs to the Line-10 extension under Phase V(A) of the Delhi MRTS.
The portal allows 930 days, a little over two and a half years. Shield tunnelling in central Delhi means working under built-up roads with utilities above the crown, so the ground treatment and settlement monitoring plan carries as much weight in the bid as the tunnelling rate itself.
What the deposit tells you about size
DMRC has not put a tender value on the portal. The bid security is ₹7,61,00,000, which works out to roughly ₹380.50 crore if the deposit follows the usual 2 per cent. Read that as a guide and confirm the estimate in the bid document. The tender fee is ₹23,600 and exemption is not allowed.
A shield drive needs very little of the usual earthmoving fleet and a great deal of lifting. Expect a gantry and crawler cranes over the launch shaft, segment handling gear, grout plants and transit mixers running almost continuously for the secondary lining. The station box and the cut and cover reach are different work: diaphragm walling, then muck removal by long reach excavators and wheel loaders feeding a tipper queue that can only run at night in that part of the city. Owners who hire out night shift tippers and 50 tonne class cranes see steady demand on jobs like this for the full three years.
