IIM Ahmedabad Construction Tender: Works on the Main and New Campus (Rs 369.24 Cr)

A single lump-sum package of ₹369.24 crore covers construction work across both campuses of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and the IIM Ahmedabad construction tender closes at 3:00 PM on 5 December 2026.

One contract, two campuses

The institute has put out tender reference IIMA/Contracts/TW-19/2026-27 for construction works at its Main Campus and New Campus in Ahmedabad. The portal records it as a works tender on a lump-sum form of contract at an estimated ₹3,69,24,00,000, and leaves the completion period blank, so the programme comes from the tender document rather than the notice.

At this size the package is a building contract rather than a single structure, which puts it in reach of established building contractors with institutional references. The site is inside a working campus in the Vastrapur area, so phasing around academic terms, noise limits and student movement is part of the job and not an afterthought.

A ₹7.38 crore deposit sets the entry bar

Earnest money is ₹7,38,00,000, which works out at 2 per cent of the estimate, and exemption is not allowed. The tender fee is ₹23,600. A deposit of that size filters the field down to firms that can park ₹7 crore for the length of the evaluation, and that is the real qualification test here.

The notice went up on 17 October 2026, bids close at 3:00 PM on 5 December and open at 3:30 PM on 7 December. Six and a half weeks is a generous window by central-portal standards, which is useful because the drawings for a campus package take time to price. Campus construction is a concrete and finishing job with a short earthwork phase. Foundations and basements call for a tracked excavator sized to the access gates rather than the biggest machine you own, and a backhoe loader for service trenches and clearing. Concrete arrives by transit mixer on a timed schedule because there is nowhere to queue trucks.

Vertical work is where the money goes. A tower crane or a mobile crane sets shuttering, steel and precast, and a wheel loader handles aggregate and debris in the yard. Ahmedabad contractors have the advantage of local ready-mix supply and labour already used to institutional sites.
