Two old damaged bridges on NH-333A in Bihar are being replaced with high level RCC structures worth Rs 128.57 crore together, and both bids close on 22 September 2026.
Two replacements, one office
Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited issued both notices on the same date from its Bhagalpur unit, with consecutive reference numbers. The larger work is a 16 span by 29.85 metre high level RCC bridge over the Kiul river at Nariyana Ghat, estimated at Rs 81.43 crore. The second is a 9 span by 29.85 metre high level RCC bridge over the Suknar river at the 80th kilometre of NH-333A, estimated at Rs 47.14 crore. Both replace existing old damaged bridges rather than opening a new crossing.
Who should bid
Replacement bridges carry a complication that greenfield crossings do not: traffic has to keep moving while the old structure comes down and the new one goes up. That usually means a temporary diversion, staged demolition and a tighter site than the drawing suggests. A contractor with river bridge experience in the Ganga plain, who has worked with well foundations in sandy strata, will read these risks correctly. Both contracts are let on a percentage rate basis with a tender fee of Rs 10,000 each.
Machines that decide the programme
Well sinking or piling equipment comes first, and on the Kiul crossing the 16 span length means the foundation phase sets the whole timeline. After that it is cranes for girder handling, transit mixers and a concrete pump for the deck, excavators for approach embankment and protection work, and rollers for the approaches. Monsoon timing matters on both rivers, so check the working season assumed in the NIT against your own plant availability before you price the job.

What are the span arrangements?
The Kiul crossing is 16 spans of 29.85 metres and the Suknar crossing is 9 spans of 29.85 metres, both high level RCC bridges.
What earnest money applies?
Rs 91,43,000 for the Kiul bridge and Rs 57,14,000 for the Suknar bridge, with a tender fee of Rs 10,000 on each.
Are these new bridges or replacements?
