What the NH-05 pavement strengthening tender covers

The job runs from km 156.507 to km 208.705 of NH-05, about 52.2 km of hill highway. It is not a new road. The scope is strengthening the existing pavement and improving road safety along it: retaining walls on the valley side, breast walls holding up the hill side, and thrie beam crash barriers where the road edge drops away. NHAI has put it out on EPC mode, so the contractor carries design and construction risk for a fixed price rather than working off a schedule of rates.

Who should bid

This suits a mid-sized road contractor with hill experience in Himachal or Uttarakhand, and it is well within reach of firms that have done NHAI or PWD maintenance packages before. The earnest money is ₹58,33,424, exactly 1 per cent of the estimate, and the tender fee is ₹10,000. Wall work on a live hill highway rewards contractors who already know how to run traffic management on a single-lane section, because closures here are short and the monsoon season eats into working months.
