NHAI is four-laning the whole 159 km of NH-552G between Ujjain and Jhalawar in two EPC packages worth ₹2,721.72 crore together, and both halves of the Ujjain Jhalawar tender close at 11:00 AM on 19 November 2026.
Two packages, one continuous road
Package 1 runs from Ch. 0.000 at Khilchipura village to Ch. 86.500 at Aakli Kadiya, entirely in Madhya Pradesh, at ₹14,62,19,00,000. Package 2 picks up at Ch. 86.500 and ends at Ch. 159.263 in Jhalawar where NH-552G meets NH-52, crossing into Rajasthan, at ₹12,59,53,00,000. Both are EPC contracts under NH(O) with 730 days, and both were published on 19 March 2026 by the Technical wing at NHAI headquarters.
Because the two stretches meet end to end, a contractor who takes both can share one set of crushers, one hot-mix plant and one workshop over 159 km. The reference numbers sit side by side as well, MPDIV 21015/8/2026 for the first and MPDIV 21015/9/2026 for the second.
What it costs to get in
Package 1 asks ₹14,62,00,000 as EMD with a ₹1,50,000 fee. Package 2 asks ₹12,60,00,000 with a ₹1,30,000 fee. Neither allows EMD exemption, so a bidder going for both needs over ₹27 crore of deposit in place before 19 November. Bids for both open the next morning at 11:30 AM on 20 November 2026.
Greenfield four-laning on the Malwa plateau means long earthwork leads and a lot of hard murrum. Excavators and tippers carry the embankment, motor graders and compactors build the layers, and wheel loaders keep the crusher and the plant fed. Minor bridges and box culverts along the Chambal tributaries bring in transit mixers and a crane.
Two years for 86 km and 73 km is a hard timeline, so most winners sublet earthwork in reaches. Owners of tippers and backhoe loaders around Ujjain, Agar, Jhalawar and Shajapur should be talking to the likely bidders now rather than after award. A fuller equipment list sits in the road construction equipment guide.
