When a bypass or ring road opens, the old highway through the town is fixed up once and handed over, and NHAI is doing that now for 16 km of NH-34 in Jabalpur and Damoh at ₹88.64 crore, with the NH-34 one time improvement tender closing at 5:00 PM on 12 November 2026.
Two town stretches, two tenders
The Jabalpur work covers the section bypassed by the Jabalpur Ring Road, design chainage km 86.562 to km 98.700, a length of 12.138 km, estimated at ₹66.53 crore. The Damoh work is 4.050 km through the town, from km 0.000 to km 4.050, at ₹22.11 crore. Its scope is spelled out: white topping of the main carriageway, RCC drain cum footpath, median, road furniture, highway lighting and development of 27 junctions.
Both come from NHAI’s Regional Office at Bhopal with PIU Jabalpur in charge. The references are NHAI/ROBPL/JBP/NH34/OTI/2026 and NHAI/ROBPL/JBP/NH34/Damoh/2026. Each is a separate item rate tender with 365 days to finish.
Deposits and pre-bid
EMD is ₹1,33,06,000 for Jabalpur and ₹44,23,000 for Damoh, which is 2 per cent, with no exemption. The fee is ₹10,000 each. A pre-bid meeting is set for noon on 8 October at the Bhopal regional office. Bids open at 5:30 PM on 13 November.
A one time improvement is carried out with traffic on the road, one lane at a time. White topping needs a concrete paver, a batching plant and transit mixers. Drains and footpaths are backhoe loader work, medians and junctions need a motor grader and rollers, and a milling machine takes off the old bituminous surface. Local contractors in Jabalpur and Damoh with their own plant can compete, because the Damoh job is small enough for a regional firm.
Two NHAI tenders to improve the old NH-34 alignment once before handover: 12.138 km in Jabalpur bypassed by the ring road, and 4.050 km through Damoh.
