Surat Municipal Corporation has put Rs 27.02 crore of hotmix road building in South Zone-A out to tender, and bids close on 19 September 2026.
What the work covers
The contract is for building road layers from sub grade right up to binder or wearing course, at a carriageway width of 24.00 metres, on roads below Town Planning road level in South Zone-A (Udhana) of Surat city. This is full-depth road building rather than a patch-and-overlay job, so the winning firm carries the road from formation level to the finished surface.
Who should bid
The notice asks the contractor to run the work with their own batch mix type hotmix plant and WMM plant. That single line decides the shortlist. If you already own a plant in or around Surat, or you control one through a firm arrangement, this is a contract you can price sharply. If you would have to buy plant capacity in the open market for a Rs 27 crore job, the margin gets thin fast.
Machines the job will need
Expect a wet mix macadam plant and a hotmix plant feeding a paver, with tandem and pneumatic tyred rollers behind it. Sub grade work needs a motor grader and a soil compactor, and a tipper fleet has to keep the plant and the paver fed through Surat traffic. Water tankers and a small excavator for trimming and drain work round out the spread. Municipal road work inside a city also means night shifts and short working windows, so plan machine hours around that rather than around open-country output.
How much is the Surat road construction tender worth?
Surat Municipal Corporation has estimated the work at Rs 27.02 crore. Earnest money is Rs 27,10,000 and the tender fee is Rs 21,240.
When do bids close?
Bids close on 19 September 2026. Submission is online through the Gujarat nProcure portal.
Does the contractor need their own hotmix plant?
Yes. The notice states the work is to be done with the contractor own batch mix type hotmix plant and WMM plant, so plant control is part of the eligibility picture.
What kind of road work is this?
It is new construction of road layers from sub grade to binder or wearing course at 24 metre width, not a resurfacing contract.
