Belgaria township outside Dhanbad is getting its own sewage treatment plant and network, built and then run for five years, and the ₹62.37 crore Belgaria STP tender closes at 5:00 PM on 31 October 2026.

Build it, then run it for five years

The Jharkhand Rehabilitation and Development Authority, through its Chief of Construction, is the inviting authority, reference JRDA/CIVIL/26-27/24/286 dated 05.10.2026. The scope is design, construction, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 5.2 MLD sewage treatment plant based on SBR with tertiary treatment, and providing a sewer network in Belgaria township, including five years of operation and maintenance with a two-year defect liability period. The portal shows 2,190 days, which is the six years of construction plus O and M taken together.

Belgaria is the resettlement township built for families moved out of the Jharia coalfield fire zone. A sequencing batch reactor plant with tertiary treatment is a reasonable choice for a township of this size, because it handles variable flow without needing a separate secondary clarifier.

Five years of operation inside the contract changes the arithmetic: running cost, power and sludge handling belong to the bidder, so an over-cheap capital bid gets paid for later.
