NHPC has put the entire civil package of its Link-3 project in Himachal Pradesh out to bid at ₹2,253.97 crore, and the Link-3 barrage tender closes at 5:30 PM on 9 November 2026.
Everything below the water line, in one contract
The scope covers the barrage and its stilling basin, the upstream plastic cutoff trench, the power intake structures, the tunnel, the outfall structure and the associated hydro-mechanical works including the adit plug. The Contract-Civil wing at the NHPC corporate office in Faridabad is inviting the bids under reference NH/CCW/CCIII/CO467/PR11926/49, and the portal allows 1,096 days, three full working seasons.
A plastic cutoff trench is a deep impervious wall built under the barrage to stop water seeping through the river bed. It is specialist work, usually subcontracted to a piling and diaphragm-wall firm, and it sets the critical path for everything built on top.
A ₹10 crore deposit and a three-year clock
EMD is a flat ₹10,00,00,000 with no exemption, which is well under 1 per cent of the estimate, and the tender fee is ₹40,000. The notice went up on 29 May 2026 and bids open at 2:30 PM on 11 November. The portal records the contract as item rate, so quantities move against measured work rather than a lump sum.
Barrage construction runs to a dry-season window. Coffer dams go up first, then long-boom excavators strip the river bed while pumps keep the pit dry. The stilling basin and intake structures need continuous concrete, so plan on transit mixers feeding placing booms, with a standby mixer because a cold joint in a stilling basin is an expensive repair.
Tunnel and adit work bring in drill jumbos, muck haulage and wheel loaders at the portal. Gate erection for the hydro-mechanical scope needs a crawler crane with reach over the piers. Himachal sites are narrow, so machine size is limited by what the access road can actually carry.
