Four slide locations on the Gangotri road are going out for treatment on a ₹86.60 crore lump sum contract, and the Barethi landslide tender from BRO closes at 12:00 noon on 10 November 2026.
Four separate sites on one contract
The Border Roads Organisation has bundled treatment of four landslide locations on NH-34 on the Gangotri Rishikesh sector: km 100.125 to 100.570 at Barethi open tunnel, km 102.960 to 103.100 at Pokhu Devta and Matli, km 109.885 to 110.037 at Jaskot village, and km 127.560 to 127.760 at Gojmer village. HQ Chief Engineer, Project Shivalik, at Rishikesh is the inviting authority, reference Chardham/Shivalik/09/2025-26.
Four sites spread over 27 km of road is a mobilisation problem as much as an engineering one. Each location needs its own working platform, its own traffic arrangement and its own material stack, and the stretch carries Chardham pilgrim traffic for much of the year.
Lump sum over 540 days
Earnest money is ₹86,60,113, almost exactly 1 per cent of the ₹86,60,00,000 estimate, with exemption allowed. The fee is ₹10,000 and bids open at 12:00 noon on 11 November, a day after closing. The contract is lump sum with 540 days, so the risk of quantity variation on slope work sits with the bidder rather than with BRO.
That matters on landslide treatment more than on most road work, because what you find when you cut into a slide face is rarely what the drawing showed. Read the geotechnical annexures carefully before you price a lump sum here. Two related Uttarakhand jobs are open: the Gangotri Dharasu work on the same NH-34 and slide treatment at Gulabghati on NH-109.
Machines that can work on a slope
Slope treatment is slow, careful work on ground that does not forgive mistakes. Long reach and standard excavators with breakers do the benching and scaling, and tippers take spoil to approved dumps that are often a long way down the valley. Anchoring, netting and shotcrete need compressors, a grout pump and a crane to place heavier items on a narrow bench.
Retaining and breast walls bring in concrete mixers sited wherever there is level ground, and road restoration at each location finishes with compactors. Machines working above a live highway need working platforms built first and spotters posted below. BRO also has the Sumla Thangla paving contract open in the state. Our guide to road construction equipment covers the pavement side of this work.
