Scania G 560 Mining Tipper Revealed at bauma CONEXPO India

Scania pulled the covers off a five-axle mining tipper at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 this week, and the number a fleet owner should read first is not the 560 hp. It is the stage the truck is at: the Scania G 560 mining tipper is running customer demonstrations, not taking orders. Nobody published a price or a delivery date.

The quick facts

  • Scania Commercial Vehicles India revealed the G 560 Super 10×4 Mining Tipper at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2026 in Greater Noida on 15 September.
  • Company-stated technical gross vehicle weight is 71 tonnes, with a Hardox 450 steel rock body rated at roughly 32.5 cubic metres SAE heap.
  • Company-stated driveline: a 13-litre Super engine at 560 hp and 2,800 Nm, a G33 Opticruise gearbox, three steerable front axles and heavy-duty rear drive axles.
  • The truck is in customer demonstrations across Indian mining sites ahead of regular commercial supply. No price and no supply date were disclosed.

What Scania showed

Two trade desks carried the reveal with bylines on 15 September, Autocar Professional and Motown India, and they agree on every figure above. Silvio Munhoz, managing director of Scania Commercial Vehicles India, framed it as an extension of an existing range rather than a new bet, saying the Super is already an important part of the company offering in India and the G 560 Super 10×4 takes the next step. Motown India adds that the truck is sold inside Scania’s Complete Solution package, which bundles digital services and service contracts with the vehicle.

How does it match the excavators launched at the same show?

A 32.5 cubic metre body takes roughly seven to eight passes from the 4.0 to 4.5 cubic metre bucket on the Cat 355 that Gainwell launched at this same show, and fewer from a bigger machine. Seven passes is a reasonable cycle. Ten is not. Put a 20-tonne class excavator on this body and you pay for the mismatch in queue time every shift. Height matters as much as bucket size, so check the dumping height of your excavator against a rock body this tall.

What it means for buyers

Read the 71 tonnes as a manufacturer rating, not as an Indian on-road permissible weight. Those are two different rulebooks, and neither desk published a permissible on-road GVW or a permit route. A truck at this rating is built for captive haul roads inside a lease, so the first question for your dealer is where it is legally allowed to work in your operation.

The body material points the same way. Hardox 450 is abrasion-resistant plate, a signal for overburden, rock and quarry duty rather than light coal fines. Three steerable front axles on a rigid 10×4 buy a tighter turning circle and less tyre scrub than a conventional 8×4 on tight benches, and five axles spread the load where haul-road bearing capacity is the constraint.

Our take: the real competition is not another road tipper. It is the choice between more 8x4s and a few off-highway rigid dump trucks. A road-derived 10×4 wins only where the haul is long enough to reward speed and the route is at least partly a made road. On short in-pit shuttles, off-highway iron still wins, and until Scania publishes a price that comparison cannot be finished.

What to watch

  • A published on-road permissible GVW or a stated permit route, which decides whether this is a lease-only machine.
  • Price and the first commercial deliveries once the demonstration fleet finishes its trials.
  • Whether a lighter coal-spec body joins the 10×4, which would widen it beyond rock and overburden work.

FAQ

Can I buy the Scania G 560 mining tipper in India now?

Not yet. Both desks that carried the reveal describe it as undergoing customer demonstrations and field trials across Indian mining sites ahead of regular commercial supply. No price, dealer allocation or delivery window has been published.

What does a technical GVW of 71 tonnes mean for Indian road use?

It is the manufacturer’s rating for what the vehicle is engineered to carry, and it is not the same as the permissible gross weight allowed on Indian public roads. Confirm the applicable on-road limits and any permit requirement with the dealer and your regional transport office before planning a route.

Which excavator suits a 32.5 cubic metre body?

A bucket in the 4.0 to 4.5 cubic metre range fills it in roughly seven to eight passes, which is the size band of the 50 to 65 tonne excavators launched at this year’s show. Smaller machines will load it, but the cycle time gets expensive.
