Delhi Metro has opened the Central Vista metro tender for a twin shield-TBM tunnel with four underground stations on Phase-V(A), and bids close at 3:00 PM on 30 November 2026.
A JICA-funded underground package in central Delhi
Contract EC-04 covers design and construction of twin tunnels, one up line and one down line, bored by shield TBM, along with four underground stations, their connecting subways and the entry and exit structures. It is for the Central Vista Corridor under Phase-V(A) of the Delhi MRTS and sits under DMRC’s JICA tenders desk.
DMRC has not put a tender value on the portal. The EMD is ₹21,49,80,000 with no exemption, which would point to a package of roughly ₹1,075 crore if the EMD is 2 per cent; treat that only as an estimate. The fee is ₹23,600, the bid must stay valid for 180 days and the work period is 1,260 days.
Dates to plan around
The notice went up on 25 September. A pre-bid meeting will be held by video conference at 11:00 AM on 7 October. Online submission opens only on 2 November at 9:00 AM and closes at 3:00 PM on 30 November, and bids are opened at Metro Bhawan at 3:00 PM on 1 December. That leaves about five weeks to put a joint venture together and price the tunnelling.
The tunnel boring machines will come with the main contractor, but the stations are cut-and-cover boxes in a crowded area. They need diaphragm wall rigs, excavators sized for confined pits, mobile and crawler cranes, and tipper crews that can work night shifts to move muck out of central Delhi.
