India has no official ranking or register of precast makers, so this post lists the makers we could source with a plant on record. Among the precast concrete companies in India in our records, 22 makers have plants in 17 states. The state table shows who works near your site, and each state name opens its DesiMachines page.

If you run a casting yard or a crane fleet, or you sell machines to one, this list shows which precast makers already work in your state. Buyers of culverts, drains, pipes and sleepers can use it to shortlist suppliers. Contractors who bid on road, drain or rail work can also watch the live tenders on DesiMachines.

Which machines handle precast concrete in the yard and on site?

A precast yard is a lifting job as much as a casting job. Gantry cranes and mobile cranes move moulds and finished elements and stack them in the yard. Wheel loaders bring sand and aggregate to the batching plant, and transit mixers carry the mix to the moulds. For the pour, a boom placer or concrete pump reaches moulds that a truck chute cannot.

On site, erection decides the crane. Pick one that can lift the heaviest element at the farthest reach it must work from, because lifting capacity falls as the boom extends. A telehandler or a smaller crane can set lighter elements, such as drain units or wall panels, where the ground allows.

Yards that buy their concrete instead of batching it depend on ready-mix supply, which the guide to ready mix concrete companies in India covers. Yards that batch their own need the setup described on the RMC and batching plants page.

If you plan to add a crane or a pump to your fleet, compare the terms on equipment finance first.

How do contractors choose a supplier of precast concrete?

Start with distance. Precast elements are heavy, so freight can outweigh the gap between two quotes, and oversize loads need transport permits that add days. Ask who arranges the permit and who pays for it.

Next, ask for test certificates for the batch you will receive, and ask which BIS standard the product conforms to. Check whether the maker gives drawings or design support for your layout, because a wrong element size stops erection.

Then fix the schedule. Get delivery dates and the erection sequence in writing, since a crane booked for the day costs you money if the trucks arrive late. Settle credit terms and the minimum order before the first order. Check the plant town against your site, because a maker with a plant in your state may still be far from it. If you buy pipes, the guide to pipe companies in India covers those makers in more detail.

The bottom line

Our records name 22 precast makers with plants in 17 states, and Telangana and Maharashtra have the most. Use the state table to see who has a plant near you, then confirm the plant, the product and the schedule with the maker before you order. The elements are only as useful as the machines that lift and place them, so plan the crane and the pour as carefully as the order. For a single job, you can hire a machine or look at a used machine to keep the cost down.

Before you settle a lifting plan, compare cranes on DesiMachines and connect with a dealer.

Plant locations and product ranges change. Confirm current details with the company, and confirm machine prices and finance terms with the OEM, dealer or bank before deciding.
