The kerb stone price in official schedules runs from ₹113 a piece for a 400 x 259 x 200 mm M20 precast kerb in the Chhattisgarh PWD road SOR effective 15 June 2026 to ₹249.55 for a 600 x 300 x 150 mm M30 kerb in Odisha’s SOR 2022, supplied and fixed. That works out to about ₹280 to ₹540 a running metre. Kerala PWD’s market rate for M25 precast kerb stone is ₹9,590 to ₹10,000 per cubic metre for October to December 2026. Most schedules exclude GST.
Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu print the same kerb stone item, down to an odd 259 mm dimension. Chhattisgarh pays ₹113 a piece and Tamil Nadu ₹164.78. Neither is wrong. Each schedule is one department’s estimate for its own state and year, so first find out which one your tender is measured against.
Kerb stone price per piece in state schedules
Each rate below covers supplying and fixing the kerb. The per-metre and per-cum columns are worked from the printed size, with kerbs laid end to end.
| Schedule (effective date) | Item | Size and grade | ₹ per piece | ₹ per metre | ₹ per cum |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chhattisgarh PWD road SOR (15 Jun 2026) | 12.5 | 400 x 259 x 200 mm, M20 | 113 | 282.50 | 5,454 |
| Tamil Nadu SOR 2025-26, Highways (22 Jul 2025) | HW-W0015 | 400 x 259 x 200 mm, M20 | 164.78 | 411.95 | 7,953 |
| Odisha Works Department SOR 2022 | 25.17 item 3 | 300 x 300 x 150 mm, M30 | 162.56 | 541.87 | 12,041 |
| Odisha Works Department SOR 2022 | 25.17 item 4 | 600 x 300 x 150 mm, M30 | 249.55 | 415.92 | 9,243 |
The Chhattisgarh item covers “all material, labour and curing” for a kerb with one corner chamfered 100 x 100 mm. It sits in the road beautification chapter, so it reads as footpath edging. Odisha’s kerbs are made on a block making machine to IS 5758:1984.
How per piece, per metre and per cubic metre convert
Per metre is the piece price divided by the piece length. A 600 mm kerb at ₹249.55 is ₹249.55 ÷ 0.6, or ₹415.92 a metre. Per cubic metre divides by volume instead: 0.6 x 0.3 x 0.15 = 0.027 cum, so ₹249.55 ÷ 0.027 is ₹9,243 a cum. Backwards, any per-cum rate times 0.027 prices one 600 mm kerb. The short Odisha kerb is dearest on both measures because a metre of it takes 3.3 pieces against 1.7.
No schedule checked prices kerb stone per sq ft. If a supplier quotes that way, ask which face is measured. A 600 x 300 mm face is 1.94 sq ft, so Odisha’s ₹249.55 is about ₹129 per sq ft of that face.
Kerb stone price per cubic metre: schedule and market
Puducherry’s PSR 2024-25, item 4.6.1, pays ₹8,417.28 a cum for precast concrete in kerbs and edgings, 1:1.5:3 mix, set in 1:3 cement mortar. Haryana’s HSR 2021, item 6.39.1, pays ₹4,631 a cum for the same work, of which ₹893 is labour. On one 600 x 300 x 150 mm kerb that is ₹227.27 and ₹125.04.
The newest official price is Kerala PWD’s PRICE 3.0 local market rate list for October to December 2026. It puts M25 precast kerb stone at ₹9,590 a cum in Thiruvananthapuram and ₹10,000 in Ernakulam (Aluva), published on 12 and 9 October 2026. That is bought-in material, not a laid rate: ₹258.93 to ₹270 for one 600 mm kerb before fixing.
Cast-in-situ kerb rate per metre
Highway schedules built on the MoRTH specifications also price a kerb cast in place by machine: 115 mm wide at the top, 165 mm at the base, 250 mm high, in M20 on a 150 mm concrete foundation. That is about 0.035 cum of kerb concrete a metre.
| Schedule (effective date) | Kerb, ₹ per m | Kerb with channel, ₹ per m | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chhattisgarh PWD road SOR (15 Jun 2026), 8.1 / 8.2 | 215 | 415 | Excludes GST |
| Uttarakhand PWD, Block 74-A Champawat (23 Mar 2026), 8.01 / 8.02 | 200 base + 234 kerb | 220 base + 330 kerb | Large-project column; excludes GST |
| Puducherry PSR 2024-25, 8.1B / 8.2B | 323.16 | 612.20 | Batching plant; ₹369.23 / ₹667.11 with a mixer |
| Haryana HSR 2021, 34.1.2 / 34.2.2 | 231 | 420 | Batching plant; includes 12% GST effect |
Maharashtra’s PWD SSR 2022-23 prices by IRC 86 kerb type: barrier ₹554, semi-barrier ₹519 and mountable ₹492 a running metre, or ₹972, ₹858 and ₹774 with a gutter. The items allow “casting in situ or precast” M20 kerb on M-10 concrete, excavation included, excluding GST.
Kerb stone size and the standard size under IS 5758
Odisha’s and Tamil Nadu’s items still cite the 1984 edition. BIS replaced it with IS 5758:2020 in November 2020. Its Table 1 lists straight kerbs 300 to 1,000 mm long (300, 500, 600 or 1,000), 200 to 600 mm high and 100 to 165 mm thick, and recommends a 1 m length including the joint. Five sample kerbs must average at least 5.0 MPa in bending, none below 4.0 MPa, and absorb no more than 6% water by mass.
The standard sets a bending strength, not a concrete grade. That is why the schedules range from M20 in Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu to M30 in Odisha.
What the rate covers, and what it leaves out
Most schedules here print rates excluding GST. Haryana’s HSR 2021 is derived considering 12% GST, and Puducherry and Kerala do not say. The per-piece items describe fixing but no foundation concrete, while Maharashtra’s item includes the M-10 bed. Where yours leaves it out, price the bed from a PCC rate per cubic metre. Taking out old kerbs is a separate item: ₹13 a metre in Chhattisgarh’s 2026 schedule and ₹24.11 in Puducherry.
For a kerb stone price in Bangalore or Hyderabad, no Karnataka or Telangana schedule with a kerb item could be reached. Karnataka PWD’s 2026-27 page carries only quarterly issue rates for cement, steel and bitumen.
Who lays kerbs, and the machines on the job
Kerbs edge urban roads, footpaths and many CC roads, and the work usually goes to the contractor holding the pavement package. Long runs are slipformed by a kerb casting machine; Odisha’s schedule credits one with 80 running metres an hour at ₹309.55 an hour hire. For precast work, a backhoe loader such as the JCB 3DX cuts the bed and moves kerb pallets, and a self-loading mixer like the AJAX ARGO 4500 batches the foundation concrete on site.
Kerb and footpath packages appear regularly among road tenders and project opportunities. Kerbs are one line in a longer bill of road materials, and the metal beam crash barrier price per meter is the other roadside item priced by the running metre.
A 1 km worked example
Take 1,000 m of kerb on one side of a road. In 600 mm Odisha kerbs that is about 1,667 pieces at ₹249.55, or ₹4.16 lakh before GST. Cast in place on Chhattisgarh’s item 8.1 it is ₹2.15 lakh, or ₹4.15 lakh with a channel. The gap is mostly scope, so read what each item pays for.
The bottom line
A kerb stone price means little without its schedule and scope. Official figures run from ₹113 to ₹249.55 a piece, about ₹280 to ₹540 a running metre for precast kerb and ₹215 to ₹554 for cast or IRC 86 kerbs. Check GST and the foundation before you bid.
